Safari Overview

Queen Elizabeth National Park Uganda is home to 95 mammal species while the bird list is 612 species long. This diversity is the result of an impressive range of habitats. Fifty-seven vegetation types have been identified though these can be summarized as just five: forest; grassland; bushy grassland; Acacia woodland and lakeshore/ swamp vegetation.

Residents of the park's grasslands include elephant, Cape buffalo, Uganda kob, waterbuck, warthog, giant forest hog, lion, leopard and hyena. Topics are found in Ishasha, while forest primates are found in Kyambura Gorge and Maramagambo Forest. Queen Elizabeth National Park Uganda has an impressive bird list. Key bird species include martial eagle, black-rumped buttonquail, African skimmer, Chapin's flycatcher, pink-backed pelicans, white-winged warbler, papyrus gonolek, papyrus canary, corncrake, lesser and greater flamingo, and shoebill stork.


Itinerary

After breakfast, get ready for your journey to Queen Elizabeth national park via Mbarara-Masaka Road. Make a stop at the Equator for photo shoots with one leg in the southern hemisphere and the other in the northern hemisphere. Another stop is made at the Igongo Cultural Center 12km or Mbarara town for lunch. Proceed driving to arrive in Queen Elizabeth National Park in the evening for relaxation dinner and overnight at your Lodge.

Wake up early 6:00 am with a fast breakfast; get ready for a morning game drive to catch the early riser animals like the big cats. Your game drive will expose you to a number of animals including the big five!!! And the famous antelope, bush bucks, water bucks, Oribs, herds of buffaloes, elephants and much more. Return for lunch. After lunch, your driver will lead you where you will assemble for your 3 hours boat cruise along the Kazinga channel. The boat encounter has been termed the Paradise of hippos’ features impressive sights of Hippos and Nile crocodiles, birds like the African skimmer, Yellow billed stork and Kingfishers. The wild game can also be encountered during on the channel side. Retreat from the activity and do a game drive along the channel track as you connect back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Your day begins with breakfast at your lodge and later on head out for Chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura Gorge still in Queen Elizabeth national park with your trekking gears. During the trekking, you will slope down a gorge with sights of magical lush mature tropical forest, thriving below sea level supporting counts of chimpanzees. Hiking the gorge’s steep slopes in search of the chimps is challenging but eventually encountering them is gives a life time memory as you will find them rolling on tree branches, making pant hooting calls, also spot the black and white colobus monkeys and the olive baboons. The walk generally takes around 2‐5 hours.
